A fun and enthusiastic attitude, as well as a desire to scare people are what it takes to become a SeaWorld Halloween performer. Every year SeaWorld is open during the month of October for SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular. Many events are available during the Halloween Spooktacular, such as trick or treating, Otto’s Candy Garden and Penelope’s Pumpkinfish Patch.[1] Positions are available at SeaWorld's parks in San Diego, California; Orlando, Florida; and San Antonio, Texas.[2]

SeaWorld Halloween Performer Job Overview

Some Halloween performer positions require previous performing experience while others do not. As more events are scheduled, SeaWorld may open more positions for performers. All applicants must be at least 16 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be in the process of obtaining one. [3]

The duties of a SeaWorld Halloween performer extend beyond that of acting. Some additional daily tasks may be as follows:

  • Maintaining personal appearance by meeting costume and make-up requirements
  • Assisting in general cleaning of specified areas
  • Assisting in the daily operational aspects of assigned show
  • Reporting prop or costume repairs in a timely manner
  • Maintaining the integrity of the show
  • Maintaining respectful and professional conduct in all situations with fellow employees and customers
  • Working with other employees to increase productivity while providing excellent guest service[3]

SeaWorld Halloween Performer Education

SeaWorld does not require a Halloween performer to have a college degree. For employment consideration, past performance in the community and/or school outside of the regular curriculum, as well as proving acting ability by to demonstrating the skill to perform in casted role during the audition process.[3] Once hired, a SeaWorld Halloween performer must successfully pass required tests and certifications within established timelines.[3]

Once hired as a SeaWorld Halloween performer, individual performers must complete training in several fields. Performers complete daily warm ups to ensure performance without injury. They must also develop the acting skills to maintain a high standard of performance quality during shows and public appearances. Performers must also learn how to assist with daily operations of assigned shows, which may include moving props, diassembling sets, or removing stage makeup after a performance.[3]
